Setting up a LUMI project and accounts for accessing the Quantum devices

This page outlines the steps to set up a LUMI account and project for accessing the Aalto Q20 and VTT Q50 quantum computers. It is assumed that you have some knowledge of supercomputing systems. If you're new, start with the overview of CSC supercomputers.

1. Request a quantum computing project

To access Q20 or Q50, you must first request a LUMI project with allocated quantum computing resources. To apply for an academic project with quantum computing time, see the open call for quantum academic projects.

Some devices carry additional terms of use that the project PI is responsible for ensuring are followed. Check the device pages for device specific terms.

2. Add project members

Once the project is created, the Principal Investigator (PI) can invite other users. See How to add members to project.

3. Connect to LUMI

Follow the official instructions to connect to the LUMI system: Connecting to LUMI – Official Documentation.

4. Run your quantum jobs

Once connected, read the Running quantum jobs section for instructions on submitting to a device.
