Strong identification - Raising the assurance level for CSC's services
Some CSC services require a sufficient Level of Assurance (LoA) for user identity. LoA describes how reliably a user’s identity has been verified by the organization or service that authenticates them.
For most CSC services that require stronger identity assurance, the required level is medium LoA. This includes services such as Roihu and CSC Sensitive Data services.
In practice, most users from Finnish universities and research organizations who log in using their home organization account, such as Haka login, already have the required medium LoA. However, having a Haka account does not automatically guarantee medium LoA in every case. For example, visitor accounts, course participant accounts (MOOC), or other limited accounts may have a lower assurance level.
If your home organization does not provide CSC with the required assurance level, you may need to raise your LoA separately.
You can see your level of assurance in MyCSC, under your profile page. Look for a box titled LEVEL OF IDENTITY ASSURANCE in the bottom right corner.
